Barbara Anderson Head, PhD

Barbara Head is an Assistant Professor within the Interdisciplinary Program for Palliative Care and Chronic Illness at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member to both the Kent School of Social Work and the School of Public Health at the University of Louisville. 

Her contributions to the healthcare field span four decades and include positions as social worker, nurse, writer, academician and researcher. Dr. Head has provided testimony as an expert witness for U.S. Attorney’s office commenting on Medicare hospice fraud & abuse cases, made dozens of invited presentations both domestically and abroad, served as principle and or co-investigator on numerous grants and special projects, and is currently as serving as co-investigator on the National Institute of Health funded R25, Development of an Interdisciplinary Oncology Palliative Care Curriculum. 

Most recently she was honored with induction as Fellow of Palliative Care Nursing by the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association.
